What do you think about plans for your area? Where are the closest preservation areas? Are agricultural areas protected? How do you feel about the type of development planned nearby (industrial, commercial, residential)?
If you were responsible for the zoning and planning for Pasquotank County, what would you do differently?
The plans for my area seem about the same, a low density residential area surrounded by rural agriculture. I don't expect seeing many changes in the land use around my house. The closest preservation area is near Northside Road and US 17, on the water. Agricultural areas are not protected, only the conservation area is. The development nearby doesn't look much different then what is already here, but looks to have more farmland. I am skeptical on how much is too much farmland, as well as the mixed use areas.
ReplyDeleteThe plans in my area are low density residential and rural agriculture, which I think is great, considering my dad is a farmer. The nearest preservation is up by US 17 North and the agriculture areas are not protected. The development nearby is for a long ways rural agriculture which is good, and some low density residential which is good too because I like living in areas where there aren't very many houses.
ReplyDeleteThe plans for my area are Industrial which deals with lots of workplaces. The nearestt preservation area is US 17 North which is not protected. There is also a low density residental area near by I think that this is good because many people enjoy living in places that arent so crowded.

ReplyDeleteThe agriculture areas around here are not protected. The preservation that is closest to me is near US 17. The plans in my area are farms and residentl which I don't realy like. If I was reponsibale for the planning of the county I would plan for more commersial property, because I hate rural areas and it would create jobs.
ReplyDeleteI live in a small residential community right next to the US Coast Guard Base. Our neighborhood is still surrounded by alot of farmland. No one in our neighborhood likes the new parking lot for the commercial DRS building, which is located behind our subdivision, which used to be a feild. The other land was made to taxi airplanes from the USCG Base to the new hangers. That was only phase 1 of the development. Phase 2 and 3 are not far away, which would also mean us loosing more farmland and wooded areas. CAMA is trying to maintain and protect our nearby Newbegun Creek.
ReplyDeleteThe plans for my area is rural agriculture. I like that a lot because i would rather it be agricultural instead of something like industrial. The nearest preservation is up in US 17 North. The agriculture is not protected in my area. I like the plans and wouldn't change them. Living in an agricultural and low dense residental environment is something I look forward for.
ReplyDeleteThe plans for my area are residential.
ReplyDeleteThe closest preservation is in US17North and is not protected. The plans are based on the community which is surrounded by large plots of farmland. I would only change one thing and that is to bring more buisness in the area other than what we already have. Like we already have 4 or 5 dollar stores. Instead of building dollar stores build a skating rink or something else to the city that would draw other people from other cities in to our city.
Ironically there aren't any plans for my area. However, I am nearby a medium/high density residentia. The closest preservation in my area would have to be US 17 North which is not protected. Agriculture areas on the other hand are not protected. I love my development for the simple fact that it is quiet, mellow, and calm. If I were to do the planning nearby I would most likely keep everything the same around my area because of less commotion, however, I would consider constructing another mall in the place of our "Hall" we call a mall.
ReplyDeleteThe plans in my area are low density residential bordered by rural agriculture. I would like to see the rural agriculture land that borders my property to be rezoned as protective agriculture, so no more housing developments would be built in the area. The closest preservation area from my house is about 10 miles on horseshoe road. If I were responsible for the zoning and planning of the area I would limit new housing developments in the county until the homes that are vacant and for sale in all the developments in the county, and city were being sold and occupied. I would make it worth while financially for farmers to keep their land in crop production.
ReplyDeleteThe area that I live in is mostly rural agriculture with some low density residential spots. Considering there is a corn field right behind my house, this makes a lot of sense. The closest preservation to my house is out on US 17 North. This area is sadly not protected. Although there are many positives to living in a small and low populated town, I am more of a city girl and would like to see Elizabeth City make some changes. If we added a few entertainment options such as a better movie theater, a mall, or an ice skating rink to our city, it would make it a much more enjoyable place to live.
ReplyDeleteThe plans for the area in which i live are rural agriculture. These areas are not protected. I am content with my area because of the fact that there are not any types of development planned nearby. The preservation area that is closest to me is US 17 North. I do not believe that I would change anything if I was responsible for the zoning for Pasquotank County.
ReplyDeleteThe plans for the area i live in are rural agriculture. I live right by the blimp base. I live on the newbegun creek. I love where i live because i love to hunt and fish. There are fields everywhere by my house so i can deer hunt. I live on the creek so i can duck hunt and also can fish. The closest preservation area to me is on U.S 17 North. I also love where i lve because there is not to many houses and i can do watever i want. This area is not protected.
ReplyDeletei don't exactly have a preservation area near me. Or aleast one that i know and no plans for my area that i know of. I would like to see agriculture plans for my area happen, instead of industrial but nothing so far
ReplyDeleteThe plans for my area is low density residential thats good for me because i dont like living in a crowded area. But you still get the advantages of having a nice neighborhood. I live near a industrial area and rual alriculture areas. I dont like living near the industrial area because there are semi-trucks driving by our house around midnight and it is very annoying. but the rual alriculture areas are nice because i like seeing all of the fields and the country side of the pasqutank county.
ReplyDeleteAs of now my area is majority mixed residential with a small amount of low density residential also. The preservation area closest to me is US 17 North. The agriculture areas aren't protected as they should be. The reason I say the protection isn't good is because it's surrounded by industrial areas which would get much traffic. Personally I feel that industrial areas aren't needed. I believe that a lot of the industries don't have much success, and also trees get cut down to create the space. If i were in charge of the planning in Pasquotank, I would cut back on starting so many new businesses.
ReplyDeleteumm.. when i attempted to do my blog the link posted wouldn't pass through successfully. it would say over and over again that the page could not be found. sorry!
